FOR DECADES, PHILIP M. HAS BEEN SELLING DISEASE AS HEALTH.

The tobacco industry, led by PHILIP M., has a long history of deception. Time and again, innovations to its products are presented as less harmful.

First, doctors were enlisted in tobacco advertising to promote tobacco brands. Then, filters were introduced to create the illusion of safety, even though they do nothing. Next came “light” cigarettes, which promised lower tar levels. But they cause lung cancer deeper in the lungs. And now there are so-called “smoke-free” products, which are supposedly up to 95% less harmful. But heated tobacco is anything but harmless: the claim changes, but the deception remains.

This systematic deception, especially of young people, infuriates us. That’s why we’re putting a stop to it now.

A substitute for cigarettes

MYTH:: PHILIP M. says that heated tobacco is an option for smokers who want to quit but can’t do without nicotine.

FACT:: Most users of heated tobacco are dual users; they also smoke cigarettes.
